On October 24th, 2014, to celebrate Food Day, the Clark County Food System Council put on Facebook Photo Contest.
The rules were simple; the photo with the most “likes” on November 7th, 2014 would win! The winner would be awarded a unique collection of Clark County Food System Council goodies, foods, and more. In order for people to enter they had to post a comment on the contest facebook post. The photo had to be related to food from Clark County, WA in some way — homegrown produce, meals, pumpkins, locally-made food items, farms, goats, and so on. We also encouraged people to share the post in order to get more “likes” on their photo entry. The last stipulation, was that the winner had to be able to pick up the prize at our next Food System Council meeting on November 20th, if they could not, then the prize would go to the person with the second most likes.
With a total of 23 likes on the official contest end date, Heather Hamrick-Pritchett won with a lovely photo of her fall harvest. We were so thankful to everyone that entered the contest — It was wonderful seeing the bounty of our Clark County soil!
She claimed her prize at the November Clark County Food System Council meeting. It was wonderful to meet her and get to know more about her photo. She won a gift pack of local products donated from the Council including shallots, vinegar, jam, apples, spices and art, just to name a few. She also attended our meeting and got a taste of what we were working on.
We hope that more people learned about Food Day, and our council, by putting on this fun photo contest.
Keep checking on our Facebook, and this blog, for future contests and events!
