We at the Clark County Food System Council wish to express our sadness for the loss of Bentley Brookes. Bentley was welcomed onto the council in June 2015, and although he did not serve for long, he made it quite clear that dedication to community was a driving force in volunteering for the council.
Bentley was involved with many community-minded organizations. He was the executive director of Buy Local Clark County, a retail advocacy organization. He was a fixture and businessman in Uptown and Downtown Vancouver. Bentley was a man who
could always be counted on to promote the good things happening in our region. Our heavy hearts cannot express just what we all have lost with Bentley.
As we process the terrible circumstances surrounding Bentley’s death, let us not forget the importance of community. We can all strive for change. It is our responsibility as citizens to demand better lives, health, and freedoms for each other. Volunteering and creating personal involvement with our neighbors are ways we can all find good in each other. We at the Food System Council send our thoughts and support to Bentley’s family during this difficult time.
A memorial fund for the family has been created on Gofundme at the link below.
